Quote: More info on this engine please......
Straight from Wiki it self. Some info on the C11...

Mercedes-Benz C11
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

A Mercedes-Benz C11 on display at the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The Mercedes-Benz C11 was a Group C prototype race car introduced in 1990 for the World Sportscar Championship. Built by Sauber as a successor to the Sauber C9, the C11 used the same Mercedes-Benz M119 5.0L Turbocharged V8 from the C9. It was the first time that Mercedes-Benz chose to put their name on the car, instead of simply using Sauber.

Debuting at the first race of the 1990 World Sportscar Championship season, the car did not actually race, choosing instead to run only in practice while the team used the reliable C9 from the previous year. However, for the 2nd race the C11 did race, and was able to successfully come home with first and second. Throughout the rest of the season, the C11 won all but one race and easily took the team's championship for the year.

Although Sauber-Mercedes had been successful in winning the 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team choose not to defend the title in 1990 due to the race not being part of the World Sportscar Championship schedule. The team chose instead to concentrate on winning the championship.

Although the C11 was to be replaced by the Mercedes-Benz C291 for the 1991 World Sportscar Championship season, problems with the C291's new engine led Mercedes-Benz to continue to campaign the C11 alongside the C291. The C11 was able to gain three more class wins in the 1991 season before the C291 fully replaced it.

It should be noted that the reason that Sauber skipped from C9 to C11 is due to the difficult pronunciation of C10 in German, with C and 10 being pronounced nearly identically.

No worries....... once you drive the car, the money will be forgotten This is usually the case with custom car projects, and don't ask how I know

I'm very excited about this project myself...... what is the timeline we're looking at?

The exterior wasnt that bad. I did all the labor myself too, so that was a big money saver. It's probably going to take about 4-5months to do everything. There a lot of obstacles to jump over with this car. Tranny, rearend, computer, etc, etc.

about 13-15k depending on if you include some front suspension parts which you need. I'm sure retail or msrp on the parts are way over 20k

Couple updates...The heads are at the machine shop right now and they should get some flow numbers on them. I am also taking the block to a machine shop to get some sleeves made for it.

Thanks man. I'm definitely trying to do it right. All the motor parts expect gaskets and bearings are all one off custom made and expensive compared to an off the shelf item. The only thing I've had luck with as far as "off the shelf" is the sleeves. I guess a mopar motor has a very similar bore lining and the deck height is almost the same, so that's what we are using. I will post some pics up soon.

Thanks a lot man it means a lot. Its a crap load of work to do the body work and i never want to do it again, but id be happy to help someone do it again. I have every part number and every file for the custom stuff if you ever want to do. I think its been done on a white clk63 cabrio if I'm not mistaken. Thanks man i wanna set up a cool little meet one day with all of us, and meet each other in person.
