Phone and bluetooth

So I had a few minutes and I was interested in whether the cars are plumbed with phone wiring or not. Mine was shipped in August '07, so it's one of the early ones ... meaning no TPMS for me!

Back to the phone, after unnecessarily taking out various screws, I found these two T-20 screws in the upper back section inside the console (please note the cutout between them):

So I removed the screws and found these connectors:

That cutout is important (I think) because if you pull it out from the front without removing the Torx screws, you can pull the connectors out and attach them to the bluetooth unit or some type of mounting plate for the bluetooth. I may be wrong, but it appears that the cutout is an insertion point for a pressure type of fitting on the bluetooth unit that mounts standing up.

Now maybe it's best to remove the screws and push the cutout out from behind but either way, it seems the labor charges for installation might be on the exorbitant side.

To be fair, maybe there's some detailed sync process with the Comand unit that takes time, I don't know.

Does anyone know if there is a universal attachment for those connectors that might make this a more reasonable cost item?

Edit: Just spoke with the parts guy at the local dealer, the additional parts required are
* Phone base system $1,100 (this limits you to about 5 different phone choices)
* Completer kit $ 192
* Bluetooth unit $ 493 (gets you 20+ phone choices)
* Install labor $ 400

I'd love to know the answers to this same questions - $2000 to add OEM Bluetooth does seem like a bit of overkill!

Here are the notes on the install on my car:

Install Phone Kit
R/R RT side trunk liner, telecommunications carrier cover
Center console storage bin false floor, install all componets for phone kit, perform all wiring and MOST connection modifications, perform version coding, reinstall all parts. Function test OK. Run Quick test erase all codes, recheck OK.

Part numbers

Q-6-82-0965 Vehicle CORE

This was a dealer install on a new car sale so no price was included on the invoice.

You guys might want to try your dealers again. MB slashed the prices of their phone completer and core kits for older models, and the 209 is one of them. I think my friend got a whole phone system minus the bluetooth puck for about $450. If you need a good parts guy, PM me and I will send you his info.

I've added it before. You just need 3 parts, the MHI and mount, bt puck and wiring for puck. Look on ebay you can get them for 600.
