Mojave Mile Shootout 3/6/10
I thought I'd try something a little different than the road racing. On March 6th
there is a one mile shootout at the Mojave Airport, Mojave Calif.
Not as much wear and tear as the normal track day so the tire budget won't suffer.
The elevation is 2700 ft so the FI cars will have an advantage but like to see how the BS performs. Check out the web site www.mojavemile.com for rules and entry forms. Hope to see some other BS out there.

By my guesstimate, SoCal has about 10% of the BS allocated to the US which would be around 35+ cars, so I'm really amazed that this wouldn't be a killer event if your a BS owner. You aren't going to hurt the car and you don't need the equiment that road racing and track days require. About the only thing you need is a fire extinguisher a helmet.
So for those who think they may want to go but will wuss out here are some excuses.
It's too hot.
It's too cold.
It's raining in Columbia.
My wife won't let me.
My mom won't let me.
There's no Starbucks at the track.
I might get a rock chip on the way.
I don't own a BS.

clk black series
I liked your tailor made excuses and thought I'd add a couple of my own................
My carbon fibre key fob hasn't arrived yet....
My toe in is out by 0.00001 degrees...
My helium gas tyre inflation kit is still in
the post...
I might get beaten by a cheaper car....
My carbon fibre cup holders are not working...
I'm not happy with my wheels, too much unsprung mass...
I'm waiting to get my carbon fibre crash helmet to keep
the weight down (normally heard from those who tip
the scales at 300lb ).......
I haven't fitted my titanium exhaust yet....
I cannot find a carbon fibre fire extinguisher...

As regards the event, if I can make it that weekend I'll be there. Glad I kept the delimit in my quest for a return to reliability...

2008 MBZ CLK63 AMG Black Series
The Black should supposedly go over 200mph, but they are limiting us to 175 or 190 depending on the tire?! Whaty rating are the Corsas? (I dont have the car with me now)
If anyone goes to this, they better remove their top speed limiter, or disappointment will ensue around 186.

Given the standing start, if we hit a 170mph that would be very good for a "stock" car. The elevation is 2700' and the runway is a 1% upslope.
I would agree a running mile would take us close to the 200 mph.
I will make a list of all the excusses I hear when the dyno racers find out that their tune disappeared.

Here's some results of the Mojave Mile. First, the weather was 49F and we had wind and some rain. Not ideal to put it mildly, but lota car guys and gals there were over 90 participants more had signed up but the weather reports scared a lot off. Very well organized event, but a like drag racing, or should I say drag waiting I thought we should have been able to run cars twice as fast. The organizers wanted a safe event so we had to wait till each driver completed their mile run and the 3/4 mile shut off before running the next participant.
Elevation is 2700 Ft which means NA cars loose about 7% of the power compared to FI motors.
This event attracts Corvettes and Haybusa MC like flys on sh**. There were many Ford GT's most modified. It is very hard to verify who's stock and who's not. From what I could verify here's some times.
Big Red legendary 69 Camero Nascar chassis, 1100hp 200 mph fastest car of the day
Ford GT whipple charger 700 whp 186 mph (my friend Clinton)
Ford Mustang factory drag car 182mph (700 hp)
ZR1 Vette 172mph
Ford GT stock 162 mph
Nissan GT-R 161
Z06 Vette stock 159
CLK63 BS 159
Challenger supercharged 157mph
M3 v8 supercharged 155 mph (may have gone faster put didn't see runs)
C6 Vette allegedly stock 151 mph
Porsche Carrera S' 3.8 144 mph
Nissan 350 Z 134 mph
58 VW 36hp 73 mph.
OK, why wasn't I faster, simple, traction. I should run in the 160s as I improved my starting launch, the wind came up and was knocking about 4 mph off my speed. The Nissan GTR no trouble hooking up with the all wheel drive set up. So as you can see the BS holds it own among other high performance cars.

The M3 was a stroked V8 with a Schnitzer supercharger running 6 psi and puts down 638+ rwhp and has a totally gutted interior. I spoke at length with the guy as we were staying at the same high end motel in Mojave. His early runs were in the 155 mph range. He told me he thought he'd do better but needed arm restraints to run in the higher class.
Looks like it takes something like 650-700 whp to get into the 180 mph.

I believe they're taking it to the Texas Mile and Bonneville as well.
overall, it looks like a fun time. I'm curious as to what the BMW V10's would have done (I would have loved to have gone, but the factory limiter is still on mine, so it would have been futile).

yeah, he had a 4.6L RDSport stroked V8 and an "off-the-shelf" ESS supercharger. but, like you, he was running on stock wheels.
I believe they're taking it to the Texas Mile and Bonneville as well.

wow, I didn't know that. I have to ask him what dealer did that so that I can avoid them. well, I don't think he needs any help in terms of getting things put on and/or fixed, AutoTalent is top notch.

Damn.....the car still pulling HARD when he backed off at 181 mph. Look like he can hit 195-200 mph top speed with enough space.
