TPMS issue

My car sat since last weekend, and when I looked a front tire it didn't look right. The sidewalls on the Corsas are pretty strong, but it still looked like it was low. Checked it and it was 10psi. I figured hmmmm, let's see if TPMS picks this up. Started the car and nothing.

Kept the car running, inflated back to normal and drove the car, no warnings. That is, until I used the steering buttons to switch the info display and get the red screen showing a tire pressure issue. There it was, but no other proactive warnings... WTF?

So I checked the manual and it should have shown the tire icon in the clock area, I don't remember seeing that. Shouldn't it also show the red TPMS screen automatically if there is an alert?

Bump: No one else experienced this before?

In general terms, shouldn't any "alert" show up in the dash and interrupt any other display going on at the time? That way even if my bulb for the tire icon is out (the one near the clock), I should get an update that there is a problem. Having to scroll thru menus to get the red warning updates doesn't seem like a good design.

Next time I start the beast, I will check and see if the tire icon lights up during power-on.
