Isn't there already a C-Coupe .... It's called the E-Coupe ?

No matey thats the E coupe . There will be no E coupe black series variant .
The C on the other hand will have an amg version , a performance pack version ( in Europe at least ) then a Black Series version " in the spirit of the clk amg black series " .

Mercedes is readying a new coupé version of the C-class for launch in 2011. Aimed squarely at the Audi A5 and BMW 3-series Coupé set, the new 2011 C-class coupé will revive the CLK range which many had written off after the arrival of the new E-class Coupé.

In line with the new CL being rebranded S-class Coupé, the new two-door C will be badged C-class Coupé. It's due for launch in March 2011.

So it'll be a mini E-class Coupé?

Pretty much, yes. Our sources claim the two models will look quite different, despite sharing plenty of hardware under the skin. In fact, they're more more closely related than Mercedes would like us to know. How close? Well, why don´t you check out the wheelbase which is an identical 2760mm for the C-class, the C-class Coupé and the E-class Coupé?

Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the C Coupé promises to be much prettier than the overstyled two-door E-class. We haven't yet seen the car, but the main image above show an early design sketch for the two-door E-class – giving a flavour of current coupé thinking in Stuttgart. The front and rear ends will be adopted from the C-class saloon/wagon which are to be facelifted early in 2011 anyway. This explains the more sculptured bonnet, the restyled lights and the enlarged nasal air intakes.

Will the 2011 C-class Coupé be a two-pairs-of-pants-and-a-toothbrush weekend-away car?

Far from it, our sources suggest. The boot of the new two-door C-class holds the same 475 litres as the four-door model. And the revised interior happens to be almost identical in space to the C and E coupés.

Inside you'll find major improvements over today´s C-class. There's a repositioned and enlarged sat-nav monitor, an easier to use Comand system and a host of extra-cost driver assistance systems such as lane guidance, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, night vision, automatic parking aids, cornering lights and cruise control with brake actuation.

The E coupe is 2 door version of the E class in other words a CLK, there is hatchback version of the c class called the clc they were everywhere in greece kind of like the hatchback w203

Mercedes is trying to simplify it line up. The E coupe has the same wheelbase as the C class but borrows some of the componets from the E. Don't think we'll see a C coupe as it would be redundent.

Usually the AMG models arrive within 9 mos of release of a MB model and with a switch to the turbo V8 it'll be a another year before it trickles down to the E coupe. Don't think we'll see a Black Series E coupe.

The E coupe has nothing to do with the C class or C coupe.

Marketing wise and wrt positioning in the lineup you are right. Technically (chassis et al), you are wrong.

Yes, You are right. I should have clarified it.

[QUOTE=forhamilton;4338590]Will there be a US version?[/QUOTE

My answer would be a big YES!!! considering we (US) are the largest part market share for AMG by a huge margin.

How much is the C Coupe going to vary in size from the E Coupe? I drove a new E Coupe Cabrio and it did not feel much bigger than the CLK and when parked side by side the E Coupeappeared to be only a couple inches longer than the CLK. I'm not really sure where a C coupe would fit into their lineup size wise.

It'll be squeezed somewhere where it makes no sense at all as all makers seem to be doing...for instance BMW have the X5, X6, 5 series GT and 5 series Touring xi...I reckon MB/Audi/BMW have figured out confusing the customer is their best weapon:smash:

my understanding is the clk's will be a sportier drive than the more luxurious e classe and lower in cost . think 3 series coupe .
the amg's will sit with the m3 and the black will tower above all as a runout limited edition special .

I understand what you are sayong but my point is that the current E coupe is already competing both size and price wise with Audi A5s and BMW 335s, introducing a new C coupe will surely kill sales of the E coupe. An E coupe is not on par with a BMW 6 series so MB missed the boat if that was their goal.

AMG is launching a new model at the LA auto show next week. Might be interesting but it won't be a C coupe AMG.

Probably an econobox A Class to help meet the upcoming EPA fleet mandates for fuel mileage. MB has the 3rd worst fleet mileage of any car maker which sells automobiles in the U.S. Wouldn't suprise me if they started badging Smarts Cars as Benzes.
