Toyo Proxes R888
Hi,
Checking to see if anyone has had theR888's on their vehicle.
I have 295x19x30 rear and 265x19x30 front ,on OZ rims with spacers up front.
Toyo are giving a range of cold for cars over 1400kg as 27-35psi and
37-40 hot with no varience in the front and back.
This is much different to the OME pirelli pressures which i used to run
at 38 front and 34 rear cold and bleed to 40 and 38 hot which seemed to work.
I have replaced these tyres with Pzero for road use on the amg rims, as the corsa tyres
were RS at 5700km.
Thanks

The 888's are also DOT R's, right? I don't think you'll do much better for mileage.
You may be running the Corsa's too low, MB calls for 48. I usually run 42 cold.
The 888 295's call for a 10" wheel and the OEM wheel is 9.5.

Let us know what you think of the 888's, I was considering them for the track.

Yes please let us know how the r888 feel on track. I have OZ rims on my BS now as well, with 12mm spacers all around. The ultraleggeras are 19x10 in the back just FYI for DFW.
I've been thinking about the r888s since they're half the price of the corsas. Although I've read before that the r888s are better suited for a lighter car. I have no complaints about the corsas, except for its astronomical price. The only other option beside r888, size wise, would be the Advan AD08 in 275/295. But it's a max street tire, so probably more of a lateral move...

I keep intending to buy a set but every time I need new track tires I find a great deal on Corsa's. At half price it's easy to stick with what you know.

I have used Toyo R888's on a Porsche GT3 RS. They were fantastic on track. The Toyo is a very popular track tyre here in the UK on many different cars. They have a very good reputation for price/quality.

I used the R888s on track on my GT-R which is also a heavy, 3800 lb car. Sizes used were 305/30-19 in a square set-up, 10" wheel in front; 11" wheel in the rear.
Impressions: whilst they were somewhat better than the OEM RFTs that the GT-R comes with; (especially the Bridgestones), the lap times between the OEM Dunlop RFT and the 19" R888s were very close. Plus the R888s are noisier on the street, especially at highway speeds; (not a problem if you only use them for the track). Also, while these tyres have a decent tread design for an 'R' compound, you do not want to be in any decent amount of rain as they would be much more prone to aquaplane than the Corsas.
I haven't driven on the track yet on the Corsas, but I bet the Corsas are as fast as the R888s; will last as long; will be quieter on the road, will provide a better ride, and will do much better in the rain. Personally I would much prefer to run with Hooosiier R6s on the track, but since there are no sizes of the R6s available to fit the OEM BS wheel, I think I'll stay with the Corsas.

I just mounted a set of R888's on Forgestar F14's for an hpde at Sebring in August. Prior to these I have been running Dunlop Star Specs during four events at Roebling Road. The track at Sebring was brutally hot (125 degrees) but the Toyos still gripped worlds better than the Dunlops ever have in better conditions. In November I will be back at Roebling with the Toyos so it will be interesting to see the impact on lap times.

My Black is in need of new tires, since the Corsa's carry an expensive price tag I was thinking of switching up but I would prefer to keep it OEM. This will be my third set so I think it's time for a price break. Who's with me? Please PM me.

For a good break off the retail, Corsas would be a nice tire.
However, I am also thinking of the Advan Neova AD08. Almost an R compound in performance, and nicer pricing.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s are similar. However for either tire you will need to go with wider rims as they do not come in the oem sizes (I believe the Neovas only come in 295s for the rear although the 265's are available for the front)
