Option Code 020 - SALES DEMO VEHICLE (what does that mean?)
I was able to obtain a list of option codes on a Black Series that I am having inspected for purchase, and one of the option codes said '020 -- SALES DEMO VEHICLE'. Did the dealers get demo Black Series to romp on? Can you see any downside (or upside if they were 'tweaked') to getting one with this option code? The car was built 10/30/2007 and shows a Warranty & Sale Start Date of 12/19/2007. So I cannot imagine that with shipping, customs, and everything else causing a delay, that it was a demo vehicle in that 6 week span from being built to being sold.
Thanks for your help!

As far as I am aware, there was only one option for the CLKBS and that was the ipod integration kit #057. I can't imagine what kind of list of option codes you have other than paint colors. I know there was a red BS that MB took around the country for demos but am not aware of dealers having specified demos cars.

To the best of my knowledge, dealers always get demo cars from the manufacturer but as far as i know they are NOT specifically coded as demo cars, since they are not produced for that purpose "ONLY". Having said that, you should call your local MB dealer and ask them if there is such a thing as a demo specific vehichle. I would be hard pressed to think that there is such a thing aside from the ONE or TWO cars the factory would tote around the US or the world as a demo, and even then i would be surprised if that car would ever come up for sale to the public. Having said that, I know that there were 10 to 12 BMW Z8 that were used by the manufacturer as customer track cars. This was a program that was included when you purchsed a new Z8. You would get to drive with the BMW schoold on certain track events held for new owners. All of those cars had their VIN #s posted so that any buyer was aware that they were used previosuly in that particular program.
What color is the one you are trying to buy? Also, if you have the Vin# you can search and see the delivery destination or the first dealership it went to. You can call that delaership and ask for an explanation as to what this code really means. Good luck with the search and purchase. These are truly amazing cars to drive.

I had that code on my car too .....it was not a demo car but I was told by MB dealer it was a "display" code
MB dealer assured that even "demo" BS cars then and now are never allowed to be floored
my car is now 4 years old ......still good as new
