CLK DTM

DTM time does seem a bit low. However, consider the CLKBS is 3-4 years newer technology, better suspension and chassis setup, drive train differences, and wonderful NA 6.3 torque. That may help explain the ~10 sec difference. Plus, driver skill/familiarity level with car and the weather conditions were like across the entire track...
The BS uses twice the amount of production W203/W209 parts compared to the one off mfg DTM components...hence why theres not listed in epc...

I'm simply looking at the lap times and hypothesizing why there could be a difference (maybe more of an opinion). I have no doubt the engineering quality of the CLK DTM can achieve faster lap times. Hence my caveats towards the end of my post. With out doubt, both the CLK DTM and BS are amazing cars. The rarity of the CLK DTM doesn't necessarily make it a faster car by default.

To clarify, I was referring to the CLK DTM (No. 78 in top 100 lap times which is pictured to be a CLK DTM Convertible) and not the tube chassis W203 DTM in red pictured above.

On this website, we know that the CLK BS lap time was set by Berndt Schneider.
As a Formula 1 fan, I happened to know that he was a F1 driver from 1988-1990, won 5 DTM titles since then, and became safety car driver of F1 since 1997.
As we know, the CLK BS is actually the safety car of F1 2007 season.
Therefore, as the safety car driver, I believe Berndt Schneider has the most experience on a CLK BS, that could explain the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time.

Hey, look at what I've found
http://www.wreckedexotics.com/accident/6127?c=mo519
There it is, I think is the first CLK DTM crashed ever, it says the place where it occurred and that the driver owns a Cabriolet version of the car also.
But what do you think guys, how can I get more info of it or even contact the owner to see if he is up to sell it, I want to take out of it everything that could be reused, instrument cluster, seats, exhaust, everything.
Or if he sells parts of the car, haha I now it's difficult but who knows? Maybe there is people that can get more info of the car in this forum. Thanks!
