Watched this one live and was pretty shocked that a modded car set a new clk blk record on BaT. Can anyone provide some reasoning behind this price or was it just a bid war?

This place is a joke.
Bizarre, especially considering the somewhat unattractive "mods" on that one. On another note, who really knows how many auctions are truly paid after it's over.

Makes very little sense, as the ones that followed it were in the mid $50k and $60k range. I cannot make heads or tails of what these cars are worth, or what is safe to pay for one now.

When you bid on Bring a Trailer the put a hold on your credit card for 5% of your bid. When the auction is over they charge the winners credit card 5%. So I doubt that the winner would not complete the transaction after being charged.
