Just drove cls 550 2012

so i went to drive this car simply because i wanted to feel the new TT engine

the dealer, MB long beach had such a small inventory they didnt have any E classes, so i decided i might as well try the cls

i like the cls looks, but for me, im gonna go with an E, ( been looking for E63 2010)

anyways, wanted to see what the TT engine is all about, and compare it to the S550 we have

its quite a quiet engine, especially in C mode, sure its fast but didnt seem any different than the S550 we have
when i switched it into S mode, it seemed to sound a little more throaty which was nice.
But the freaking sales guy was such a tool, he kept switching it back to C mode and tell me me that only on highway i can put it on S mode...i was like wtf, are u a moron...dont touch ish when im driving
dominique nygyen, u are a tool

anyways, car is nice obviously, but wht the heck
the nav screens is sooooooooo small? im sure all competitoirs are much bigger

You have the benefit of multiple Merc dealerships in your area, why not just email a few and ask upfront for an extended test drive of the cars you want to drive and use the dealer that is most responsive to your request?

My local dealer gave me the keys last month to a 2012 CLS550 that closely matched what I am looking for and told me to take it for a 24 hour test drive. I did similar a week later with a BMW 550i. Unless I can secure a 2011 E63 for ~$25K off MSRP in the next 2 months, I'm going with the CLS.

Personal preferences will vary person to person, with that said, how important is the Nav screen or the head unit for that matter versus all the other variables in play? The BMW 550i head unit and nav screen are some of the best in class (as an example) but the rest of the interior imho is 2nd class compared to the CLS. In agreement the CLS is quiet (compared to an AMG version), but it's loud in comparison to the BM 550i.

Have you looked in to a new 2011 E63? A new 2012 E63 MSRP nicely equipped is roughly the same price as a similarly equipped 2011 E63 at invoice and there is some inventory out there that needs to be moved. I'm negotiating w/ a couple dealers on 2011 E63's and starting $5K below the 2012 E63 invoice price (so in the high $70's) which is not far from the 2010 used market price. There are end of year deals to be made! :-)

most of the cars ive looked at are the 2010 e63s at 75$ish in price

what number do u think i should start at for a purchase of one of those cars with CPO

i also plan to trade in or sell my c320

how receptive are the dealers when u offer high 70s for a 2011 e63 when the sticker is close to 100 or over

also, any reason u are not going for the 2012 e63 with TT

I'm not certain about used, howerver, I would use NADA, KBB and market prices as a benchmark to anchor my negotiations and start super low.

I'm at $9K and $11.5K under invoice on 2011 E63's from 2 different dealers which I believe is still too high as that is near the 2012 E63 invoice. I believe high 70's will be attainable by December. If you like the NA engine why not go for a new 2011?
