I'm planning to place an order for a 2012 CLS550 this month and considering adding designo interior (link to order guide below). I am going to keep the car for 5+ years and would prefer a color combination that I look forward to getting in to day in and day out as my DD.

The current CLS550 interior options are nice, but I wish there were richer interior options for a car in this price range. My wife's 2011 GL450 has sand leather seats, black leather dash, black headliner and black carpets and its stunning compared to the CLS optoins.

I'm considering the standard Palladium Silver exterior with either designo Auburn Brown or designo Sand interior leather, black Alcantara headliner and wood/leather steering wheel. Thoughts?

Anyone out there with designo already in the new 2012 CLS? If yes, what's your opinion on the extra $3650 - worth the cost?

I like the options, but I don't know why MB would not make the designo interiors available with the wheel packages. In essence, you have to give up the option of the sport steering wheel and manual mode on the transmission in order to get designo. Plus, some may like the wheels offered with the wheel packages, and there is no way to combine those with the designo interiors. Very strange...

Does anyone out there with the sport package use the manual mode frequently? Would you miss it if you didn't have it?

I wish the dash leather with Designo gets upgraded to a smoother texture leather. On the BMW individual you get leather every where and it is the soft merino leather.

I would like to see pictures of the interior of a CLS550 designo before placing my order.

According to the order guide, all of the leather that remains black (dash, center console, etc) gets upgraded to the smoother, softer premium leather. The non-designo CLS has either standard leather or MB-Tex on the dash and trim.

I am from Europe, and our new CLS just arrived at the dealership.
We chose a Designo Graphite exterior with Designo Platinum White interior. Headliner is Designo Alcantara grey. Very, very nice combination . We have also upgraded premium dash leather, feels very soft! To me, it is def worth the extra cost, you won't see this everyday .

Those colors sound very similar to my Launch edition. I love the premium leather and porcelain interior.

I just had the tint and Paint Protection Film put on. I need to wash the car and then I'll take and post some pics.

I think the launch edition comes with the mb-tex or regular leather on the dash, under dash, doors .... . With designo you get black nappa leather on the dash, below, door .... . It would be nice I can do porcelain interior with premium leather dash.

I'll have to look for the info on my car but I thought I read it had the premium leather...I'll check. Either way, it is so nice inside. I get complimented every time someone gets in.

Only the seating surfaces are premium leather (and maybe the seat backs?). The dash and console are reportedly MB-Tex. The premium leather dash/console in the designo is probably super soft and amazing, but it would be harder to maintain over the years, I would think...

We have designo interior, everything is premium leater, no MBTEX at all. Car will be delivered on Friday. I will take pics

Very nice. Congrats. Is the bottom part of the door near the map pockets and the speaker also leather. Are those upgraded door still from illuminated door still option ?

Here are pics of our 7 platinum white, love the white interior. Have an M3 in the same color. Deciding between the 6 Gran Coupe individual opal / CLS 550 platinum white / M5 platinum white.

Yes, bottom part is also leather. Indeed, as an option we got illuminated door sills. Gives a nice touch in the dark .

Is it possible to order designo interior and at the same time order the wheel package plus? I thought it was not possible..

damnit!! I was just thinking how I wished I would have gotten that designo!!!!
I was going to get the blue leather for my iridium car......would have been soo sweet,
but by the time I made up my mind the build had gone red.....
