ECU Flash

ECU Flash
Installed my OE Tuning flashed ECU. I have not been able to drive aggressively since it is wet and cold here in CT. I have noticed that fuel economy appears to be better. I am getting about 2 mpg greater than before over a similar 60 mile route that I regularly take. Not sure this is conclusive just yet. Power does seem to come on sooner as well. Will update once I have had more time to drive it under differing conditions.

Ok, ok. Somewhat premature as I have only driven it for about 150 miles since installed. The car does appear to have more low and mid range torque (from 1500 to 3500 rpms). It comes one smoothly without the sudden thrust of my 993 Turbo. It feels more effortless and refined. I guess I was expecting a more severe "throw your head back into the headrest" feel. On a related note fuel efficiency appears to be up. I am averaging 23 mpg vs. 20 on my 2011 E350.

Good info so far... I appreciate your insight. I'm attempting to find out if the RENNtech flash is worth more than twice the price of the OE tune. So far, email inquiries to/from RENNtech have been lacking feedback... whereas OE seems to be more up front with expectations.

BTW, I need to add (which I failed to mention earlier) that Jeremy and Josh at OE Tuning were very helpful in expediting the flash and return of my ECU. From the time I mailed it to Van Nuys, CA from CT to when I received it back was only 4 days and that included the weekend. I also failed to install the connectors correctly and hence experienced some initial hesitation. Jeremy was quick to diagnose the issue over the phone. He's worth contacting if you have any questions or hesitation with getting your ECU flashed.

I took advantage of the special year end discount (2011). Best to contact Jeremy at OE Tuning. sales@oetuning.com or 818.574.5075 for up-to-date pricing.
I have not yet been able to do a 0-100 kph. It's winter here in CT and the roads are cold with patches of ice and drifting snow. Will let you know once Spring rolls around. I am told the additional Hp is close to 50-70 at the wheel with similar gains in torque. Nonetheless I believe the stock CLS550 is underrated at 402 hp / 429 lbs ft.

I too am very interested in some further feedback. It would be exciting if the OE tune lives up to it's reported numbers in the real world, since it's less than half the price of Renntech flash.

2012 CLS550 Launch Edition
C218 or C219?
The OE Tuning website only lists a flash for the C219. The HP gains seem to bring the levels equal to the new engine in the C218/2012 CLS 550.
Jeremy/OE Tuning, can you advise? Thanks.

What does the horsepower/ tq to translate after this ecu tune ? Cause i know the renntech is about 530hp /606 pounds of torque. Same with the vtech cause the c218 engine i think has about 50-60 more hp then mercedes advertises.

I believe the ECU from OE adds around 50-55 hp and the same for torque. I noticed that the car exhibits more power than before, however, not the same seat of your pants thrust that my old W216 coupe with the 5.5 V12 turbo. The power on the W218 comes on more gradual but nonetheless strong.

dbtk- Do you have any updates for us regarding your tune experience? Overall, are you impressed with the power gains... has any everyday drive-ability been impacted... how is your gas mileage doing? If you were to purchase a tune again, would you make the same decision?
