If you are going to build one in, the rear view mirror is my choice. In my '09 Carrera S, I have it that way and then the glass etched for the arrows, etc. Volume button rests @ bottom. Below is a pic of it during assembly. I windshield mount my other V1 in all my other cars, including the CLS, because I lease both Benzes, so I feel it's a waste of money to build in.
The Targa, gets it on the widshield as well.
