Comand system broken
Hi
Well my car is 8 days old. Filled up with fuel today and started up car and comand screen was blank. Would not switch on. Went to dealer who checked it and it is knackered, having to order a new unit from Germany, will take about a week.
This is the 3rd Mercedes I have collected from Germany. The first one needed a new automatic gearbox a few weeks in. The 2nd one needed new airmatic shocks on the back a week old and now this one.
This is the only fault so far.

The transmission I can understand because they had teething problems. But the Comand is very uncommon because the inboard diagnostics can do a self analysis and error correction. They are extremely robust because they are 5th generation systems.
At least the problem is being handled.

Well I just went back in my car and it is now working, must have reset itself. Fingers crossed it was a one off.
The previous cars were collected 9 and 11 years ago.
Mercedes have supposed to have improved their quality and judging by the finish on my car and the lack of problems on here, must be the case.

After no issues since the 8th day I had the car the Comand system would not start again today, left it 30 mins or so and it is still dead. Phoned dealer and car is booked in for 28th Dec to have a new one fitted.

Car in tomorrow, dealer said that Mercedes have instructed them to do a software update rather than replace. Sounds like they know there is an issue. Have asked if they can also add the camera guide lines, they are going to try.
