Rear Spoiler....Yes or No??

Hello All....

First I should note that I have recently picked up my CLS 550 and it is by far the best car I have ever owned...

Since getting the car I have purchased 20inch VOSSEN CV4's (mine came with the 18inch AMG's) The original rims I will use as my winter set...I changed the door pins to the AMG pins (huge improvement from the cheap plastic)

Finally I am considering adding the rear spoiler...I thought perhaps you guys could weigh in on what you think....Also whether or not to go with an aftermarket version or the OEM one....The car is beautiful and I do not want to run the look....

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The rear spoiler really completes the look IMHO. The qn is whether to get a carbon fiber one or one painted the same color as the car. I guess a lot depends on whether your car i slight colored or dark colored to begin with.

What did you get, and congrats on the new purchase BTW.

I have the OEM spoiler and it definitely enhances the rear end design. Makes the back look less droopy and more aggressive. The carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler on the 63 AMGs are especially nice. Helps keep the car glued to the roads at triple digit speeds too.

Thank you guys for your input...My car is the Cuprite Brown...Which is sort of an odd color...I really like it and wanted a different look .... So the spoiler can go either way...Its tough....Any aftermarket companies that make a smaller less aggressive one?

That's a rare color. I think it looks great though. Please post pics when you can. I was thinking of getting the same color with a carbon fiber spoiler. Let us know what you decide to do and congrats.

yeah really!!! pictures!!!!!!

I think: while it serves no real purpose, it does help enhance the rear end of the CLS
a bit more IMO.....would you color match or do something different?

good luck with it

You have got to post pictures of that rarity!
Nevertheless, the spolier makes the car look a bit aggressive.

OEM - painted to match the car it makes a statement without SHOUTING it.

How do you like the ride of those 20s?

Spoke to my body shop....The OEM cost on just the spoiler is in the $900 range...Can this be? I am shocked at how expensive! Any options on getting better prices on OEM product for my car? or after market spoiler to spec for less?

The cost for a factory install is $400 so $900 sounds high. There are aftermarket replicas that run $200. Search this website or benzworld.

So that estimate isn't even including labor/installation? That seems way too high. On my car's original window sticker it's listed as only $400 option

Heard that your Cuprite Brown will not be available in 2014. You now have an even more exclusive color cos it will be the last year.

Had a diamond white spoiler fitted today. A lucky eBay find where someone preordered carbon and was delivered in white. The dealer fitted carbon and let the customer keep the CLS 63 spoiler in white. A perfect match for mine and $200 well spent

Looks brilliant....
