Have you test-mounted the racks yet? I'd love to see a photo with the skis in place, if only for the pure incongruity. It's great that you're getting such utility out of the car.
No kids here, but we occasionally have to drive our aged parents around. My Mom has always complained about our SUVs (too high) and our sports cars (too low), but the CLS is just right. She's even made some noises about my getting one for her. That's not happening...

Yes the roof rack was test mounted three days after I took US delivery in Oct. Drove around with the racks for a day and verified only a modest increase in wind noise. Its unusual for us to see coupes with ski equipment on the roof here in the US but I believe it is done quite often in Europe.
Real easy install - 2 minute job at each anchor point, 10 min job total. Can be done without help but one additional person is useful. Will post pics when fully loaded up.
I could use our SUV for the ski trip but this is meant to prove that our CLS is a practical as well as good looking vehicle. We shall see...

Better check on snow conditions in Vermont. I don't think there is any snow. There is no snow at Mont Tremblant, PQ and that is much more to the North.
