Smile CLS 550 Interior Light Change

Hey guys,

I wanted to know if anyone knows how to or has a D.I.Y. review on changing out the Interior Stock bulbs to LEDs.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-up-Mercedes-CLS-Class-7x-Light-SMD-Full-LED-Interior-Lights-Package/171137410417?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D18240%26meid%3D2588579675989123422%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D8344%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D171165993426%26

I've figured out to to change the vanity mirrors; but I don't know how to pop out the center bulbs and I don't want to damage it as this is a brand new CLS. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

Slide a credit card right in the middle and it will pop off. Just put the credit card in the middle and push in

MASORCAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD HAVE NEVER FIGURED THAT OUT. I had two credit cards and at first I was like what is he talking about and then I started fudging around the boarders and just like you said it popped right out ....I started laughing and cracking up....one last question...do I try to pull the whole dome cover out; because when it popped out it just hanged there....and how do I get to the lighting cover do I have to unclip from the side or above.....I'm gonna take another look at it tomorrow but if you have any more great advice please let me know.

I remember reading that this car is the first to have all LED lighting from the factory. IIRC, there isn't an incandescent bulb anywhere in the car. Are you changing just for color?

@MASORCAS...... Thank you for the additional input I will definitely try tonight

@DRUMMIN4FUN.......So my boy just bought a new Hyundai Sonata and he added LEDs to his interior; needless to say it was ridiculously bright; I mean I couldn't believe how bright the whole damn inside of the car lit up. So automatically in my head I was like I'm doing that to my CLS550. If they do come with it (stock LEDs) then they are like low and cheap....so I bought this Mercedes LED kit that I want to install. I think I may do a D.I.Y. on this.....I'm very appreciative of the info provided to me by MASORCAS...so I may give back to the community by doing one.

I did a complete interior LED swap on my 2007 Carrera. I loved the color and clarity of the light that LEDs deliver. (Not to mention that they will virtually never burn out!). In my CLS however, I like the sophisticated, understated glow of the interior lighting, which is already LED. I would be interested to see the results you achieve though. I hope you do the D.I.Y. with LOTS of P.I.C.s.

As for MASORCAS, great tip! It's that kind of support that makes (car) forums so valuable.

The rear has a clip on each side toward the back of the car its a little trickier but once u locate the clips its easeier.. Try it with two credit cards stick them in each side and with a small flat head screw driver pop it off carefully

I think I know what you are talking about because I was shoving the credit card in but I was like the sh@t won't pop out....but that makes sense....I began making a video but I got so frustrated with the rear dome light I got discouraged...but I did get all the front bulbs changed out....but I will try tonight.....thanks bro!!

Kappuccino, you ever finish that video? I want to swap out the bulbs in my 2014. Any help or advise is appreciated. What bulbs did you use and are they still working for you 3 years later? Thanks.

I agree, I am not sure why anyone would want all the glare from an white/blue LED, it almost like you are being interrogated.
