2012 CLS 550
2012 CLS550 vs 2014 / 15

I just acquired my friend's 2012 CLS550 lease. I have it until the lease expires in October, but I do have the option of giving it back after June.

Anyhow, I'm seriously considering getting one now, I freakin love this car. It's black / black with every option available. Very nice.

My question is, when the lease expires, should I get the new model or just finance this 2012? What are the differences between them, if any? My payments are currently $1352 per month, so I could definitely afford a new one, and I'm willing to do that if there's a good reason to. Otherwise I may just finance / purchase this one and I'm guessing the payments will be about half.

What would I get in the new model vs this 2012 (other than just a version with less miles). When do we expect a refresh or significant update? If it's coming up that would be another reason to hold off buying new.

Thanks for any input!!

Hi Daudi, a 2012 has the same engine and performance as a 2014 and the exterior looks pretty much the same. I managed to get light poplar satin wood in my 2014 which was not available in the 2013 and 12s. And 2014s have guidelines in the rear view camera which 2013s and 2012s do not get. 2014s are available in a bright red exterior called Cardinal Red I think ( used to be Storm Red for the 12/13s) and a copper color called Cuprite Brown was not available in 2014. A new silver color called Diamond Silver was available in 2014. There may be a minor addition or two to the P1 package for 2014 which was a standalone option in the 2012/13s but I forget what it was - very minor item.

Oh and 2012s came with this "blue efficiency" badge on the side which some owners did not quite like and for 2014 and 2013, the badge was deleted.

The 2015 model may come with some minor facelifts front and rear. Google "2015 CLS spy pictures" and you might see some initial pics.

Hope this helps.
