Power folding side mirror swap?

I'm wondering if anyone has done the swap from the US manual folding mirror(s) to the Canadian power folding version. I called the dealership and was politely told "MB's position is if US cars were supposed to have the power version, it would have been offered on them. Don't expect MB to help you with this modification."

If you managed the swap would you share the process for the rest of us?

Thanks in advance. Scott

Me too - interested to know how to get that mod done.
.
Good to hear from you again Scott. How're those Ronal 19s. The AMG 18s I got from you, now mounted with Blizzaks, go on in about a month.

I guess no one else is interested in this mod. I was hoping I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel.

From the research I've done in the past, it appears it will be a direct install/swap with the auto folding mirrors and the control switch on the drivers door panel. You will be able to fold the mirrors directly from the switch itself by pushing the "fold button," but you will need to do a reprogram with star diagnostic in order to have them auto fold when locking the doors. I'm not sure if there is an additional module required for this though. The biggest hurdle is trying to source the mirrors. I've seen the control switch sell on ebay.ca for around $80 but not sure how much the mirror itself will cost.....never seen one for sale. I'm guessing you should be able to purchase the mirrors from a canadian vendor or try your luck with Ebay.Ca to see if you can come across a used set. Keep us posted if you decide to pursue this mod or if you come across any additional info.
