2012-2014 Differences

Exterior wise, they look about the same. I believe the 2014 changes the back bumper slightly, but I don't notice any other real differences between them. Am I missing something?

2014 bumper is the same as 2012. No real exterior changes I have seen. Inside, the rear view camera on the 2014 has guidelines that move with the steering wheel. 2012 does not.

2012-2014 is basically the same car. Changes were made to the exterior and interior of the 2015 model.

Ok, thanks. I've been looking into selling my E and getting the CLS. Is there any year to avoid or certain problem pertaining to certain years?

Can't speak for any other years but my 2012 has a known issue with the pre-fuse box that controls the airmatic suspension. There is a relay in there that controls the pump that crapped out. No damage was done to my pump but it screwed up the air springs on the rear from the car probably sitting so low. My warranty covered the repairs so no big loss for me other then my time. I would hope that MB addressed this with the pre-fuse box in later years but I can't say for sure.

Thank you, That helps out a lot actually. Learned a few things I didnt know as well.

Im still a little back on forth on getting this car. What was the selling point for yall? I personally love that I dont see very many of these on the road. Ive seen a few pre 2012 models, and only one 2012+ model. It's funny cause I was pulling into the dealership and was like, WHOA! What was that?!

I'm asking cause my family/GF actually like my E better. They say it "looks more expensive" than the CLS, which now has me reconsidering selling my car.

I really like the looks of the CLS better than E-sedan. To me, the CLS looks more aggressive and sporty and definitely gets more heads turning - Not that I need that, its just something I noticed. I also like the interior better, seems more luxurious.

Also, the CLS (with Airmatic) handles WAY better than the several E-sedans I had ('13 and '14 350s non-Airmatic). This may not be the case with an '11 550... I don't have experience in one of those. What size tires are on your '11 550? The 255F/285R on the CLS provides awesome grip and confidence.

Hope that helps.

I owned a 2012, and now own a 2014.

Front side efficiency badges gone, Backup camera different with the lines, and an engine shuttoff toggle (start / stop). I'm pretty sure the 2012's didn't have that, and if they did mine didn't have that option. I hate it anyway and need to figure out a way to make it stay off, because it's on by default every time you start the car. My wife likes the feature, but I HATE it.

I think there's also some electronic differences, because I had that escort 9500ci with the laser shifters in my 2012, and then had them put in my 2014 and the installer said the install was a lot harder. Not sure why.

Can't think of anything else.

My next door neighbor has the E AMG and mine gets more compliments. Not that it matters what other people think, but I think the CLS looks better as well. The E AMG is a monster of a car though. Much quicker (obviously).
