Warning 2015 CLS550 buyers - Brake Downgrade
This is not completely verified for the '15 CLS550 yet but for sure it has happened to the '15 E550coupe/cab that shares the same brakes, but it looks like the '15 CLS550 brakes have been downsized/downgraded to what is also on the CLS400, CLA250, '14 E350, '14 SLK250 and many other models. You can read more about the downgrade here from my post in the C207 forum:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...new-550-a.html
Just wanted anyone who might be thinking of a '15 CLS550 to know about this, particularly anyone who might be upgrading from a '12-'14 CLS550 whom will be surely disappointed in the new model year braking performance. Further, I could only find rotor size specs on mbusa.com when I did a vehicle 'compare' and looked at specs and the specs are wrong - At least for the '15 E550A which lists 361mm discs but only come with the 323mm discs and much smaller calipers. I fear the same is for the '15 CLS550.

Could be a similar option package as the SL - You need to buy the sport wheel package which comes with 19' wheels, sport steering wheel and bigger - sportier- brakes.
No idea though

Can any other 2015 CLS550 owners confirm whether or not they have the larger or smaller calipers?
Can you also mention if you purchased the sports package on the 2015CLS550? And also mention if they are outside the United States?
Maybe this will help us figure out what set of circumstances results in the smaller brake calipers.
Just a thought also, but perhaps the smaller calipers on the 2015 are being put on the CLS400?

Just started doing a little research by looking at photos of cars on lots via cars.com and I found this pic of '15CLS500 with a new/different/better setup compared to '14CLS400 and '15E550 coupe/cab. Looking good for the '15CLS550!

The brakes in your picture look a hell of a lot better than what we have. Do you have any specs on these rotors and calipers? Curious if they are actually a bit better at providing better braking power or just cosmetic changes to what they slapped on our cars. Also curious as to whether there is any wear / heat data available yet on these to compare to the pre-2015 brakes (warping issue). Thanks.

Thank you for that info konigstiger, using those schematics I am trying to search online using the part numbers to see if I can find exact size of those calipers (i.e. 361mm or if they are smaller). I hope to be able to update you all soon.
for anyone that cant see the images....
front left caliper part number: A 218 421 20 98
front right caliper part number: A 218 421 21 98
rear caliper part number: A 221 423 03 81
