OE Tuning 550 Bi-Turbo Tune Review
I wanted to share here since the cars share the same motor. I recently picked up a 2012 E550 4Matic and wanted to get it tuned. After researching several vendors I went with OE Tuning and am very very happy. Here are my overall thoughts.
Vendor Tune Selection
After calling various vendors to discuss their tunes, pricing and the overall process I decided to go with OE Tuning. Jeremy and Ryan were great throughtout the entire process. They answered all my questions, provided a detailed document on how to remove and install the ecu and remained in contact (via email and telephone) with me the entire time to let me know they received and shipped my ecu.
The Tuning Process:
ECU removal and install was very very simple. The entire tuning process took less than 3 full days. I shipped it via overnight to them in cali from nyc on monday morning and received it back wed by 10:30am.
Performance
I LOVE the tune. Throttle response is far greater and the added power is very very noticeable. The car pulls very hard throughtout the entire rpm range. Feels like an entirely new car. At 20mph in 75 degree weather I am able to get the traction control to engage on the 4matic! To gauge its new performance I had a chance to see how it compares to a modded E55 wagon. A close friend of mine (and member here) has a 2006 E55 Wagon with modded supercharger pulley (equivalent to 168 crank pulley). We had a chance to make several runs last night from a stop and roll. From a dig the 4matic advantage is very clear as the car would launch very hard and jumjp out about 2 car lengths and slowly pull another 1/2-1 car length before we shut down. From a roll the car would slowly pull to about 1 1/2-2 cars everytime before we shut down.
I have been racing cars at the track for years and based on how the car feels, I am confident that the car will easily run from 11.9-12.2 based on weather and launch.
Overall I am extremely happy with my choice and new found power. Hopefully this review helps anyone thinking of getting their 550 Bi-turbo tuned!

I'm just curious, on the OE website it only shows an OBD flash for the CLS550. I'm assuming that since the engines are the same the E550 & CLS550 bench flashes are interchangeable?
#5
I understand. But looking on your website you don't show a bench tune for Bi-Turbo CLS, '12-recent, only for the older 5.5. So I was asking if the E550 Bi-Turbo tune is interchangeable with the CLS Bi-Turbo since it's the same engine?

I love the tune from OE Tuning on my 550 Bi-Turbo (2012 E550 Coupe) as well! 2 months post tune and the increased performance is still absolutely smile inducing!

I've had my OE Tune for a few months, very happy. I do wish though, that initial throttle response was a little more "immediate" however it picks up quick and goes.... trouble sticking the tires, as I don't have a 4Matic... but it is fun, and hey tires are a renewable resource right?!?
On a side note smoked an E60 M5 (2005 - 2010) the other day on three stop light runs.... needless to say we had a chat and he was a little surprised! Thumbs up!!!
Can't wait until the weather cools down to take it to the track!!!

I sent my ECU in today to OE...taking advantage of this special pricing. 100hp for $850 is a no brainier! Spoke to Jeremy over at OE..very nice guy and very informative. He answered all my questions. Removing the ECU was a breeze...took me about 45 seconds. I can't wait to get it back this Wednesday
I'll keep you guys posted on the results

I look forward to seeing your results! Are you getting a dyno? Here is my dyno pre and post OE Tuning Stage 1 Tune on M278 Biturbo V8 (E550C). Mustang Dynamometer are typically very conservative.
