Who has tinted tail lights??
I am looking at doing a slight tint to my tail lights and trying to decide if I should tape off the reverse lights or anything. I would like to see who has had their tail lights tinted!

Mine are identical to the above style off my '12 CLS63, if anyone is interested I am selling the tail lights.

See mine below in my sig. I had the entire lamp tinted just slightly. Just enough to darken the red so it wasn't quite so bright as well as the reverse light. Look great at night, and have had no issues with the brightness of the reverse lights at night.
Lot's of folks do the reverse portion only and it looks great. Just see which you prefer.

I just got my car and was toying with stock, vs light smoke on the entire light, vs light smoke on the center clear section only.
I dislike the clear center section in the rear especially on a black car. Seems to clash and looks a bit dated, makes the tail light look even bigger than it is. IMO the best look at least on black
The fully tinted lens looked really nice just not on a black car IMO. On a brighter color I would say it would look better, but the tail light is HUUUGE and having it all one color, basically color matched to the body in this case makes it look even bigger
I also used vinyl on the exterior chrome but held off on the bottom diffuser chrome piece. It kind of ties the exhaust together for now and I will probably wrap it at some point since I have like 25ft left of the 3m tape, hah
The tail light plastic is very "red" though, I wish it were a darker red like what you see on newer cars though. Might toy with a tinted border, the tail lights are gigantic and I am not a huge fan of the rear end stock, looks like a whale, LOL
Entire lens tinted
Just the center section tinted

I bought spray tint from auto zone and gave me the look I wanted, and it peels off like plastidip. If you don’t want that route I know it’s cheap to have em tinted my friend got his Beamer blacked out headlights and taillights 200.00 and looks real sharp.

This doesn't inhibit the ability to see clearly whilst in reverse?

If you use dark tint film, or a non-glossy style spray I think it will limit the output. Blacking out the lights is really stupid, It looks cheap and the brake lights are usually barely visible in bright sunlight
But with a 70% smoke film I noticed almost no change. The turn signal and tail lights were about 90% as bright as before and I can't notice any loss of intensity with the reverse light. Especially on the rear view camera, looks identical.
Tinting just the center section will also keep the cops happy. I do like the idea of having film over the entire light to keep it fresh though.

The taillights are the only thing on mine that bother me almost like butterflies or something. The darker tint looks way better IMO and not even close to ricy lol

I'm poking fun , its all purely subjective.
Besides I'm not even a owner yet.
Simply adding to the discussion.
Disclaimer ...if you pass me in the fast lane , and your tail lights are tinted ...I will say that's "ricy"

Makes more sense and that’s cool you can poke fun and I can simply state that i disagree and that I think the tinted tailights on my 550 look awesome and not ricy lol say what you want as you are looking at my taillights just remember you are looking at my car and I’m not looking at yours

Tinted/sprayed taillights can be classified as "ricey" if done improperly. If done right, they do look good. I see people with pitch-black taillights...now that should be considered ricey and illegal lol. I sprayed the VHT on mine a while ago, it looked good (so I was told), but I didn't like it, personally. So I removed it. But I like the idea of tinting just the Reverse light. That idea is neat. I already have a film, just haven't installed it yet.
And I saw someone use the tint on the headlights...tinting the DRLs in headlights - above and below - the headlamps (if that makes sense) lol. It looked pretty neat too. Just having the rectangular headlamps visible while the remaining are tinted.

I was going to tint just the red part of the tails one shade darker. Made the appointment, guy didn't show up. Went back and was looking at the pics I'd photoshopped and decided I actually like the bright red. It's classic
