Trunk keeps opening by itself?!?!
WTF? 2012 CLS550: Every time I go out in the garage the trunk is open. Closes fine. Come out later and it's open.

Well, it IS my wife's car, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. As I stood there, I heasrd the trunk latch recycling occasionally with no input, so something was stuck (computers). The lock button on the truck wasn't working, so hit it twice and it confused itself and moved 1/2 way, then hit it once and it worked correctly, and the whole car locked. I'll see if it's open again in the morning. Made a service appointment just in case.

I had the same problem with a new 2015 E-Class. I was prepared for multiple trips to the dealer as they "tried" and failed to replicate the problem. I was favorably surprised. I mentioned the issue to my service advisor and he said that they have had one other car with the same problem, and that car had a defective rear SAM. They replaced the rear SAM in my car and it has been fine since.

Apparently it was ghosts. Hasn't happened since and the dealer couldn't find a fault code or any operational issue. I hate gremlins.

The problem with ghosts is that when they get bored, they come back.
My dealer "pre-emptively" replaced the rear SAM - meaning that there were no codes shown or pending. They just relied on their experience of having that be the solution for another customer. That's just showing that they are willing to go out on a limb for customers, I guess.
My gremlins haven't been back, either. So, who knows?

Update. Dealer couldn't find it. And, of course, it immediately quit. Probably waiting for warranty to expire.
