Just purchased a 2012 CLS550 and have a couple questions.
Is there any way to increase the turbo noise? Removing some thing on the intake side, like a diy free mod.
I do not like that when the car is in manual mode it will still downshift when you hit the kickdown in the gas pedal, is this normal?

It downshifts because you are not in the optimal gear I believe.

The "Manual Mode" in your 2012 isnt a true manual mode. I have the same 2012 CLS550. You can convert it to a true manual mode by doing this....
Going to attempt that possibly this weekend and I'll let you know how it goes!
As far as the Turbo Sound You can do this and it will be the most glorious sounding turbo ever lol.
