OE Tuning.... another happy customer

Received my reflashed ECU today. Installed it about 60 seconds and took the car on a shakedown drive. A few observations....

1. Rocco and the staff at OE Tuning are great. Rocco communicated very well through the process. This is very important when you are sending such a vital and expensive engine part to a company.

2. The unit was received by OE late Wednesday afternoon, was reflashed, and sent back via FedEx same day.

3. I received the unit Thursday morning prior to 10:00 AM. Excellent customer service.

4. Only drove the car about 10 miles so far. The power delivery, once it kicks in, seems endless. The car pushes and pushes to redline.

5. There is a slight hesitation at launch. It is my understanding this is intentional to help preserve the transmission. Once the power kicks in hang on.... there will be an instant, permanent grin.

6. Best launch technique appears to be doing a slight brake stand and then releasing the brake while mashing the gas. I did a launch in S, E, S (in manual), and pure manual. Pure manual is the best launch letting the car handle the shifts.

7. The more impressive acceleration is accomplished while underway and suddenly punching the throttle. The response is immediate.

I highly recommend. There is a noticeable difference. I will need to get used to the new shift points and characteristics of the engine with the tune. There is a difference now, for sure.

Great job OE Tuning!

Congratulations on the added power. I've been looking into tunes for my '12 CLS550 and when I spoke to another company, I mentioned that I didn't like the slight hesitation or "dip" I feel on takeoff and that I'd like that tuned out. They said that even tuned, it's there to protect the transmission. I get it but I wish there was a way around that. Feels like it costs me a quarter or half a second from 0-60.

With your new tune, can you build boost when on the brakes in order to overcome that hesitation you mentioned? I can't.

I wish I had a boost gauge in this car so I can see what's going on. I have a Grand National also and it's so much quicker when I can launch under boost.

Enjoy the new feeling.

Actually I've found the best launch is to just mash it. No scrolling the turbos. It seems if you scroll them, the RPM will drop after you release the brakes.

The torque is absolutely amazing, once it kicks in. The tune gives an entirely different audio experience. There are times you can hear the air rushing into the engine, and other times you can hear the whine of the turbos. Pretty cool stuff.

I was pulled over yesterday. Luckily I was let go with a warning. Also lucky he caught me while I was only going 85. I had plans to be going much faster, but he was shadowing me for a few miles. I hit some pockets of traffic that slowed me down.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that RPM dip after trying to scroll the turbos is what I experience. Just mashing it from idle seems best.

Can't wait to tune mine. Once they overcome their weight, these cars pile on mph fast so I can only imagine what it's like with the tune.

Be safe out there. Glad you got just a warning :-)

Interesting thread on the E forum on the RT tune. Talks about dropping the 1st gear protection. Sounds to me like the RT tune might be a bit suspect..... there is a customer who is complaining about limp mode.

If I disable ESP will this eliminate the delay if you scroll the turbos and launch?

For me, no, that did not eliminate it. Tried it.
