Coolant smell permeating from engine bay
We have a 2015 CLS 550 4 matic, first car I’ve ever owned where it permeates the smell of propylene glycol with the hood closed and one is able to smell it standing a few feet away from the front of the car. We took it to the local MB dealer and they said they did smell it permeating, but that was normal for these cars to do that. We scheduled appointment they looked for leaks snd checked the reservoir and found no faults with the car. The vehicle is still under warranty. Do you think we should take it to a different dealer for a second oppion or is this normal to you all as well?

That’s what I thought, I scheduled it to be dropped off at a much larger Mercedes dealer in Cleveland area on Tuesday. Not the first time I’ve been told the car was fine and took to another dealer the following week and they found the problem.

Same with mine. It's not all the time but there are nights when I get parked in the garage, come out a few moments later and there is a slight hint of the coolant smell. Not a sign of any leaks or where it's coming from. I'm under warranty for one more month.

Update 1/3/19 Took the CLS to a 2nd larger MB dealer in Cleveland. They called and told us that who ever did the last coolant service on the car overfilled the coolant in the cars reservoir way too much and it was spilling out as the car heated up on longer drives. It’s funny how the first MB dealer couldn’t figure that out, but the second one found the problem with no trouble.
