CLS55 AMG ROTORS ON A 2012 CLS63 AMG W218?

I was told by an FCP Euro parts specialist that I can use the Zimmerman rotors for a CLS55 AMG on my W218 2012 CLS63 AMG.
Is that so? If that is the case I would save a ton of money but not sure he is correct, any input from someone who knows would be greatly appreciated.
Below is an email thread of our convo:Hi Mario,

There are a few exceptions and not every single model uses the same rotor, but it's a pretty general trend. For instance, my SL55 uses that same rotor and so does the non-performance package CLS55 too.

You don't do anything else differently - pads and sensors are the same. Nothing fits differently, and the rotors bolt right up the same way. Especially with the rotors being the exact same dimensions, the car and computer don't know the difference.

Warm Regards,
Shane

Interesting. So Benz and all other brake manufacturers such as Brembo etc. simply say the E55 or CLS55 rotors don't fit the newer models so they can charge more for the newer ones, doesn't surprise me!! Does that also mean that when I sell my current 2012 rotos that they will fit the 2006 CLS55 AMG for example??

Ok how do I proceed to buy the Zimmermans? I need the brake pads and sensors as well. Will I have any computer issues with the sensors being from a different fitment??

Thanks Shane.

Hello Mario,

I know what you mean - it's surprising, but on many AMGs from 2003 to 2018, they used the same basic rotors, just between one piece, one and a half piece, and two piece. It'll be perfectly fine for your 63. However, the Brembos aren't available because that puts us back at square one.

Best regards,
Shane

Thanks Shane. Are you 100% sure these will fit my car? Everywhere I’ve checked the rotors for the CLS55 or E55 do not fit my car as it is the newer model CLS63 AMG, it is a 2012 when the model changed from the CLS55 AMG chasis. I used to own the CLS55 AMG and everything is different with this newer model. BUT if you are telling they are the same size and will fit I would buy them as I’d be saving a ton of money. Do you have original Benz ones or Brembo for this application? I know Zimmerman is good but I’d rather get the other ones.

Let me know.

Thanks,

By looking the technical information, they have almost identical dimension on the rotor size, hub size and even offset. It means they are interchangeable. The W218's rotor is more expensive because it is a way better designed two pieces rotor compare to the earlier W219 rotor which is a one piece rotor. If you don't mind to de-tuning you brake to save some money, you can go for it.

By the way, I am talking about the front rotor only. The rotor in the back has a different dimension and offset. Will not be interchangeable unless you also change the caliper.
