2016 CLS 400 vs 2014 CLS 63 S

Looking to buy a CLS. Narrowed it down to either a certified 2016 400 for $35k or 2014 63 S for $50k.

Both have less then 30k miles on them. Primary purpose would be daily driver.

Question on is how would the reliability compare between the two. And after say 3 years of ownership which one will have held its value more.

Thanks for the help!

I’m not sure first hand. But have heard that AMG and M cars are best owned under warranty.

Well amg should hold it's value better, however both prices are quite high. Are both first owner cars and both mercedes certified? Im from uk and as well as i know certified amg get 2 year amg warranty, and regular mercedes get 1 year.
Reliability wise it's always a hard question, it all depends on service record. Has the car been tuned? etc.
m157 are pretty solid engines when maintained, there aren't any known design flaws that will get you no matter what. I'm not familiar with the 400 engine at all, but both aren't bad from what i've heard
But personally the difference in repair costs isn't that great to get 400 over amg.

When I got my CPO 2016 CLS400 (also with less than 30k miles), the dealer sticker was $36,000. But I came out from the dealer paying around $42,000 for the car, because of California taxes, paid for registration and I added prepaid maintenance and dings and dents. So you have to take that into consideration too man. Also with CPO, my bumper to bumper warranty now lasts until 2021 basically, which is great so I have peace of mind for a good amount of time at least.
