Thoughts on Performance Tuners for CLS400?

Has anyone bought a tuning chip for their CLS400, or 550 for that matter? If so, what are your experiences with it, and is the difference in power very noticeable? Found this on ebay while looking for some mods to do: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Mercede...8AAOSwlCBbeJZq

Don't plug that thing in your car man. There is a ton of already well informative threads about this. Google OB tunings or race chip

Aha, wasn’t going to, the power is already more than enough. Just wanted others’ thoughts on the topic.

There's tons of reputable tuners on here that tune both 400 and 550 series cars. I have my 550 tuned and it's a night and day difference

Which tuner did you use for your E550?

I also had my CLS550 tuned by OETuning and it's a beast now! Using the MyGenuis OBD device you can change back and forth between tunes. Marv

I'm considering either OETunning or Eurocharged. They are both similarly priced and have good reputations. I'll likely be ordering by years end unless I change out my car which is another consideration. Good luck.

Most vendors will have a Black Friday sale after Thanksgiving. I would either call them or sign up for emails from them. OETuning will probably give you a discount for being an MBWorld member. Marv

I think I'm gonna go with Eurocharged simply because they have a location in Orlando and I can physically take the car there to get work done.

That's what I did in CA at OETuning while I was there for a visit. Ask for an MBWorld discount! Marv

My buddy has a C43 and recommenced this, which he said works excellent but it doesn't work to the cars full "tune potential" stock IMO

adds 40hp and 40tq so youd have 370Hp and 394Tq

https://www.dinancars.com/product/d4...s=&mid=CLS400/

I personally am going to get this after reading lots of reviews from many sites ect.

https://www.racechip.us/shop/mercede...-354lb-ft.html

Near as makes no Difference 400Hp (396) and 423Tq def not mad at that!

I do not see the point in spending $1500 + on a tune from rentech or eurocharged when there is minute gains in power and requires your car to be down or you spend a lot more money for a hand flasher that at that money should already be included.

The tunes cost a couple of hundred less than you think. Also the car does not need to be down. They send you the tune and you upload it your self. From what I have researched the gains are not minute and you can switch back and forth between tunes fairly easy. Plus Renntech, OETune and Eurocharged have all tuned thousands and thousands of cars. Remember they don’t just do MB. The folks on these boards that have gotten tunes seem pretty happy w them to me.

We actually have sales all the time like now where the handheld is included. I’m lost on the small gains in power as you indicated. The full ecu tunes (vs the ecu tricking modules above) make close to 100hp and 150tq gains.

I believe people are confused by HP and wheel HP being quoted by various people. Not to mention the bogus claims by chip firms. Handheld is the way to go! Marv
