Headlight Washer Cover

I have a 2014 CLS550 and the drivers side headlight washer cover has popped out. I am trying to re attach the spring and cover to the inside if the bumper. It looks like once opened, the spring will allow the cover to retract back into place. I am not able to see inside the bumper where the spring attaches so I am unable to determine how to re attach it. Not sure if the bumper needs to come off or if this is possible while still on the car. Any help would be appreciated. Pics for reference.

IMHO, need to drop bumper. If you succeed without dropping bumper let us know.

Before you start taking the bumper off, which is no easy project, I would stop into a dealership, or even a body shop and ask them for advice. There may be an easy fix that could save you some work. I had some minor front end damage a while back (2015 CLS) and the body shop guy said the bumper removal was about 3 hours labor, so its not just loosening a couple of bolts and giving it a tug.

Getting the front bumper off isn't hard. After you get the under tray off(10 min), and get the fender liners out of the way(10 min to remove wheels, 5 to pull fender liners out of the way) it takes about another 20 minutes or so to undo harnesses and pull corner bulbs and unclip the bumper from the top side. I think that is the most time consuming if you are doing it the first time. You have to use a wedge or fat flat screwdriver and go slowly one side to the other while gently pulling each time you shove the wedge in. Once you see it, it's easier to understand. I've had my bumper off a few times already though. It's really quick for me nowadays. I can pull it in about 30 minutes. But it's not insanely time consuming or really hard to do.
