Hi, its my first post here so I hope I've got the right section, I'm asking about a MY2015 (post face-lift) CLS Shooting Brake.

I've done a lookup on the VIN and according to that I have a NTG5/NTG5.1 installed. I'd like to get Carplay enabled, I see on ebay various ODB port dongles are available for about £40 but most claim to be for the MY2016, not '15, despite claiming to be for a NTG5. I've also seen an upgrade kit for about £200.

I'm a bit confused to be honest, I'd rather not pay £200 to have it done if I can plug something into the ODB myself and save some money, but I don't want to brick the Command

Has anybody done this?

 

Won't work on a 2015. Have it updated by your dealer. Once you buy those dongles from a Chinese seller, they most likely won't have a refund policy, and it's a hassle shipping things back and waiting on a refund.

 

I added Carplay to my 2015 without any dealer update, so your comment is inaccurate.

 

Then it would depend on the month of the build, or if your vehicle's COMAND was updated, and then you used one of those NTG tools, it may have worked. There was a video posted about someone inserting the tool into the OBD port, the COMAND would restart but no CarPlay.
