Hi All,
My CLS has a funny glitch at the moment which is puzzling me. When I get in the car (cold start) sometimes the green E which is present in the dash is not there. When I try and go for R or D I get a horrible clunk as it goes in. However if I let the the car sit idle or even just all electrics on the green E eventually shows and the car shifts into R or D smoothly. If it doesnt appear and I drive off my cruise doesnt work. If it eventually appears and I get smooth D or R it still doesnt work, but if the green E is there instantly as in when I initially turn the key my cruise control works fine.
Before I spend £170 at MB for a diagnostic check has anybody ever come across this?
I replaced battery to see if that helps in case it was a voltage thing. Needed doing anyways.
All tyres are brand new and correct sizes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Did you replace both batteries? there's 1 in trunk ( aux) and 1 under the hood (main).
2. If it does something like that when it's cold - it might be something wrong with the transmission itself. A code reader will not show you if it's not broken yet, it might just be on the last mile. Also it might just be low oil in the transmission, check that too.
3. What kind of transmission you have? 7 speed or 9 speed? Here in US we don't have the 350 CDI models, so not fully aware of your specs. I would check on any possible missed recalls of the series, just to be safe.
