Also, stage 1 CLS400 4matic here, 420hp/460lb/ft torque and I smoked a 2018 C63S uphill (very high incline road) to 120kph (then he was just pulling). So yeah, as Blaise said, the 400 tuned is lit, but the 550 will always have the v8 and a tune can bring out way more power.

Just had the rears done last week. Just shy of $1000, all in, including labor and rotors.

Yes, that’s all it will need. And it’s a little over $1000 for the front brakes—I don’t think it’s for rotors too. This includes labor.

Actually, it’s $1,050, but there’s a 10% off special. So $950. That’s the price we pay for driving the best. And when it comes to brakes, I especially only want the best hands doing the job.

Hmm. What's the mileage on your car? I needed to replace all 4 rotors/pads a few months ago. I was at 53,000km (32,900 miles), and paid $1026 CAD (excluding 12% sales tax) from Mercedes for all 4 rotors, pads, and sensors. This price did not include labor as I take my car to someone who used to work for Mercedes for a very long time, and has his own shop now specializing in Mercedes vehicles. Also got the fluid flushed afterwards. Looking at my invoice paper, the pads were about $245 for all four. Are you sure you're not at least getting the rotors done with the front pads? Because $950 even at the dealer for just the front pads not the rotors too seems way too expensive.

Agreed, I could of bought oem for about 800-900 usd which 1026 canadien sounds about right.

I bought and installed with a buddy, brembo rotors and ceramic pads all under 500 bucks.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Rear-...MAAOSw~O5gEl3b
Even before I modified the car , I didn’t think the car stopped like I wanted it too and I replaced the oem rotors and pads with the brembo rotors and pads because of personal recommendations. I’m very happy with my current setup and I did switch to the brembo low met pads.https://www.brembostoreusa.com/produ...pad-set/P50098 and the stopping power works and I’m really hard on my car. Price isnt an issue for me when it comes to modifying the car. I just wanted more stopping power and replacing with oem wasn’t going to do it and I don’t have the time to mess with an amg brake kit yet, I will in the spring with the new upgrades. My point is some owners like the piece of mind from the dealers amd some people diy. I feel my cars stops better with brembo setup.

I was actually going to upgrade my calipers and everything to AMG ones from a C63S but then I heard you can't use RWD brake setup with a 4matic vehicle, and I couldn't find any other local AMG brake supplier other than the dealer so I gave up lol.

I know I’ve been looking too, basically on eBay and other local areas. Supamario has got the calipers I believe his is for rear wheel setup, which is what I have, I can’t wait to see how that conversion comes out, but just keep looking and the ones you need will pop up.

I will check the paperwork they gave me after doing my B-service. Will let you know. But my car just hit 46K miles yesterday.

I recommend sourcing parts from FCPEuro and either DIY or having a trusted mechanic do this. Brakes are not difficult, even on a Benz. And with those parts you will only pay once with their lifetime warranty.

It's great if you can afford (and can get past the mental block on it) having just the dealer do everything. I'm sure the dealer appreciates the business, but there are plenty of certified MB master technicians in independent shops. These cars are made from parts from many different suppliers, it's not black magic and fairy dust - so there is no reason to feel the need to dealer service at their mostly ridiculous prices.

Greetings. even with that low buy in cost, it will be $$$ to maintain a car with those miles as things are probably due and worn out on a car with those miles. $$$

I hear what you’re saying. I’d ask why dealers charge such obviously exorbitant prices, but one answer to that question is this is how they make their $$. They do not make it from the sale of their cars.
by the way, was at the dealership yesterday and saw this. Not what I would by, as I’m into cars. But I’d never seen this before.

Although it’s a CLS, and maintenance cost is always a bit more costly, It does seem to be a bit high. Searching around the internet, it looks as if that should be the price for replacing all 4 rotors, pads, etc.
