CarPlay firmware update

I have an early 2016 CLS 400 that did not come with the Apple CarPlay. I know there has been a lot of back-and-forth whether or not that the dealers service will update the firmware to allow CarPlay, can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

If so, what is the cost and is this only available through the dealer or can a local MB shop perform the update?

Costed me around $200 here in Vancouver to update mine. If you look at your USB ports in your center console, does USB #2 have a tablet sign? If not, do not waste $100+ to swap the unit out. It serves no purpose other than having a tablet design for the second USB port which is the USB port you need to use for CarPlay to work.
