Stiff/light steering and steering angle
The car had a 4-wheel alignment and drives straight with steering centred, however, there are now two issues. The first is there is a noticeable pull to the right. When the car is dead stopped, the steering wheel is almost turning itself to the right (clockwise) and stops about 10 degrees into the right turn. The second issue is that when turning the wheel the steering is extremely light turning right, but more stiff turning left. The point it changes from light to stiff is when the steering passes through the straight-ahead position.
I have run a Mercedes code scanner on the car but no codes are apparent. The only thing I could see was a funny steering angle sensor reading. When the wheel is centred, the reading is zero. But as soon as it turns to the right even the slightest, the reading goes to 6550 degrees and decreases correctly. For example, if I turn the wheel one quarter turn right, it will read 6460 degrees, which is 90 degrees less than 6550. I have replaced the steering wheel sensor angle with a known good unit and the situation is exactly the same, including the 6550 degrees issue.
I am bit confused where to go from here. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks.
