Cls 350 cdi 20" tire sizes help needed
Hi, I needed some help deciding which tyre sizes to go for, I have looked at some old threads and there's alot of confusion. My car is a 2011 cls 218 350cdi without air suspension.I run 19" alloys at the minute with 255 35 19 on 8.5j and 285 30 19 on 9.5j .I have purchased some 20" alloys that are 8.5j et38 and 10j et43 , I have been told that 255 30 20 and 285 25 20 would be the best combo to go for but after looking at some threads I'm getting confused as some people are running 245 35 20's and 275 30 20's and some people are running 255 35 20's and 295 30 20's or even 305 25 20's.
I need help in deciding which would be the best combo to go for without rubbing and to give me the bigger side wall for comfort and protection against potholes as I'm from the UK and potholes are unavoidable as the roads are terrible.

I know it isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison but hopefully it helps provide some insight.Mine is a 2014 W218 with Airmatic which may make things a bit different. On the back I'm running 305/30R20 and 255/35R20 on the front. Tolerances are tight but nothing rubs. The potholes in my area are ridiculous and in places there's really no avoiding them. So far I've only had to get one front wheel straightened after hitting a pothole that I swear a meteor created. Hit it at 45mph and it sounded like the wheel got ripped off. Bent the edge of the rim just enough to prevent the bead from sealing.

this is more or less the same sizes I was told but was hoping for more side wall, in the previous reply above by Greg W is quoting totally different profile sizes, 35 and 30 so this is where i get confused..

2010 C300 4MATIC........ 2011 C63 AMG.............. 2015 CLS400 4MATIC.....
Yeah you can go up a profile, that's what I did. Keep in mind though, the car will sit slightly higher, and since you don't have airmatic you of course cant lower easily.
It does save some comfort, but not sure if it would fit different (rub) without airmatic.
