Wont go more than 170km/h
Hello guys, i have a cls63 amg s 2013.
I bought the car for more then 1 month and because i live in Switzerland the speeding tickets are so expensive 😂 , i had not tested the car more then 120km/h.
Yesturday i was in germany and i had a chance to try how fast can i go but when the car reached 170km/p
I lose power ( and i am not sure but i felt like the car automatically stopped ) i lost power for like 10 20 seconds and the power came back but when i try again 170 same thing happens.
The only problem i have is the Alternator not working properly.
What can be the problem please help.

2013 Weistec 540/715 tuned CLS 550, 2008 E350, and '07 Jaguar S-Type R
I suspect this is because of the ECU speed limiter in place to prevent speeds in excess of the OEM tire rating. If so, this can be removed/altered by tuners such as Weistec, Renntech, and others.

I was thinking the same because it feels like you hit on wall when you reach 170km/h… not 169 not 171
right 170km/h ( and i am driving with Winter tyres ).
To be honest i am scared and i hope its the limiter.
3 days before i go to germany, i was at Mercedes dealership about the alternator and i asked if they can chack the car because it’s new for me, and the results was not bad only problem was alternator nothing more.
After that i find out that my amg wont go more than 170 😩😩😩

Update
Today i was at mercedes dealership, and the gay told me thet the termostat is not working properly and that can be the the reason why the car won’t go more then 170km/h, but i think that’s not the problem because the temperature was around 83 to 85 ( the max temperature is 91 that i have got, city driving with a lot of traffic)
The guy from the dealership told me if the termostat is not making that problem then something inside the engine ( lucky for me that i have warranty for 1 year)
and also for changing the termostat they asked around 1200€ and i think it’s too much, maybe i am mistaking.

Sorry, it's hard for me to buy the "something in the engine" explanation, unless a cam timing sensor is acting up. I'm guessing there are no check engine lights so no codes to read? Nearly any failure sets a code on these cars. Maybe a fuel starvation issue - bad fuel pump, clogged filter? On my CLS normal operating temps are just above 80.
