CLS Platform

I was under the impression that the CLS was based on the E-Class platform, but was just informed by two sources (an associated, and someone at Fletcher-Jones) that it is based on the CL platform? Which is it, and how could I possibly think that it was based on the E? Thank you.

If it were based of the CL, they would've said it was based of the S platform.

I hate dealerships. I should open my own.

Is there some official webpage or document that I can show my associate in order to "prove" this to him?

Not that I know of, but you could check up width and track base and what not and compare it.

The CLS is based on the Mercedes E-Class platform. Though slightly longer and wider than the E-Class, the front cabins are nearly identical. To that end, Stuttgart widened the E-Class' track, lowered its center of gravity, fitted larger wheels (18”) and brakes, and gave the CLS' variable assistance rack and pinion steering system a faster ratio.
