there is absolutely NOTHING wrong when a dealership charges 4 hours labour for the install of an Ipod kit in a 219 CLS or 211 E-class...that kit gets wired from the right front to the left rear of the car...this install is not as straight forward as the Ipod kit installs in any other benz.

Hi there all just purchased ipod kit from local MB dealer ,cost me £135.00 / $235.00 with optional holder for glovebox ,booked in for fitting next week & advise 2hrs for fitting . Will post pics on forum when car is retnd from work shop.

I drive an SLK55 and I am thinking of getting my Ipod installed into my car. My dealership quoted me £135 for the kit but they wanted an additional £200 for labour... did you incur a similar cost for labour?
Also, completely off the subject, my Dad is considering a CLS320 CDI - have you been pleased/any comments?

I unsure of current labour costs ,but have been advised 2hrs,[sources advise me that the new service tarriff charges are close on £90 per hr ??]
As for the CLS , having previously had CLK, E320 ,E300 & various other mercs , this is by far the best one I have had , its just a pity it didnt come with bi-turbo ,, would then be on par with the CLS 500 , only other gripe is the dashboard , for a new model it still has the same dash as the CLK !! Car currently returning about 34-36mpg & 24-26 in traffic

I had the MB kit installed a couple of days ago. I had them run the cable to the center console instead of the glove box. I think it is a little easier to take in and out at this location; furthermore the A/C vent in the center console keeps the ipod cool.
I tried working up a dock for the ipod to sit in. Come to find out the ipod dock for your desktop does not put audio through the ipod cable. It splits the audio signal from the ipod wire and puts it out another port on the back of the dock. The ipod nano dock fits perfect in the phone spot. I also took out the bottom left side storage of the center console to allow for more room, which you have to do with this install because the wire to the center comes out a little short.

Just got my Invoice for the fitment of the Ipod kit , apparently it took their top Tech head over 8hrs to fit the kit ! The whole dash had to come apart & he had never had one stripped down before. Cost for fitting was £125.00/$220 [MB Agreed Price for fitting ]
I seriously would not advise fitting this yourself unless you are a qualified engineer , but hey some guy's would probably manage.
