Unusual rear tire treadwear
guys:
I have 20X9.5" wheels on my rear with 275/30 series Bridgestone S03 tires and after about 8k miles, my flat tire light came on a couple of days ago. I drove straight to a tire shop and it turned out that my passenger side tire had a nail in it and went flat...no biggie. then, they pulled the wheel off and the most unusual tire wear was noticed (even the shop guys were puzzled). the inside wall of the tire had a deep gash in it all the way around the tire as if something had been grinding up against it and slowly eating it away. they looked but couldn't find the cause so they told me that i may have just rode on the flat too long to cause it...fair enough...got the tire replaced.
then i asked them to go ahead and re-balance the rest of the tires just in case while i was there. the driver's side passenger tire, although fine on air, has the same unusal wear! i have never had to fill air in it and it wasn't flat.
anyone else experience this? i have asked them to order me a 2nd one.

Two things I would check.
1. check if inner control arm is rubbing against your tires
This might happen if you are running too thick tires with not proper offset wheels.
2. check your allignment spec
There days many brand new MB cars have mis-allignment from factory.
Mine was out of spec when I check mine so it wouldnt hurt to check your 4 wheel allignment.

thanks for the info.
the car does need an alignment but MB refused to do it since i had it lowered and i put aftermarket wheels.
NTB doesn't have the specs for this car yet to do it either so i'm kinda stuck.
i will check the control arm and let you know.
