2007 Cls
Hello,
Anyone know when the 07 will start shipping to the US? also I hear that they are going to be the CLS550, not CLS500... is this correct?
thanks!

Correct, no more 500 or 55, replaced with 550 & 63.
You can not order a 500 or 55 at this time, my dealer thinks July to September range before 07's show up

from what ive herd it cant be that much more since MB does not what to place the cars in a different class by doing so.
I wonder if the new CL will be at the NYIAS in two weeks.

Is it me or do the CLS550, E550, CLK550 and even SL550 models with 382hp seem like great buys from Mercedes or what? I mean that is more hp than any AMG model prior to 2003 and nearly the same hp as the 600SEL/600SEC/600SL V12 models from 1993! It may not sound like a whole lot of hp compared to some of MB's other models and some sports cars in which you have to have 500hp nowadays to matter, but for a "standard" Mercedes V8 to push 380+ hp seems like a big deal to me. It makes these cars really feel worth the Mercedes premium over other cars in their classes no?

Yeah the upcoming "550" models are going to be quite hot I think. Next year we'll likely get the new CGI version of the 3.5L V6 in all all of the "350" cars for the 2008 model year with 292hp. I mean 268hp to 382 is quite a gulf I think so look for the 2008 C350 to introduce the new direct-injection version of the 3.5L V6 to the U.S. market and again as always the engine will find its way into every other "350" Benz. I love how Mercedes (and the Germans in general) do this.

i don't know, if you can't wait, get the CLS500. even though there is a horsepower upgrade for the the new CLS550. i doubt that we really need the extra hp. after all, the CLS is a sedan/coupe that is meant to have a comfy ride on the road. the CLS63 is a different story because that car is meant for overpowering other cars because it has all those special features that enhances the performance of the car. But if you just plan on have a comfy ride and not race anyone, i think the CLS500 will do you good (only if you have no patients hehe) But hey, if you have the patients, ofcourse go for the CLS550 since it is going to have a better resale value.

Yeah Germancarfans has an article up with the launch dates for the 2007 U.S. models, finally some official confirmation of the CLS550. They're saying Sept here which likely means the cars will show up in August.
