Yes it was expensive. I figured it would be around $80 (still expensive) and I SHOULD have inquired first (what do they say about "assuming" 
)
I paid a whopping $240. When I got home, I looked in my maintenance book to see what was covered. Basically, an oil & filter change plus the inspection of several other items.
You are correct when you called it "basically an expensive oil change". In looking at the other side of the coin, I could say that only a trained eye might catch problems during the inspection. To this end, I would NEVER bring a Mercedes to the local kid at a Jiffy Lube et al. Good luck with whatever you decide.
