Excessive tire noise

Had the CLS500 for nearly a year and done 11000 miles or so. For the last 2 months or so, starting to hear a loud droneing noise particularly under 65 mph which is most of the time, unless I am on the highway and obviously going faster. Checked the tires, I have Pirelli's(came with the car) and at hot, they are approx 32/33.
The noise is quite loud and wondered if any others here have encountered the same problem. Pressure too low? Suggestions to change to a different tire? Etc etc. Took a friend of mine out today and he thought it sounded too loud also, but later on, informed me that a friend of his mentioned he had Michellins on his CLS500 and was making such a loud road surface noise that it was becoming irritating!!!
Comments appreciated

High performance summer tires tends to get louder as they wears out.

so I recommand to rotate tire to see if it will reduce the noise.

FYI...12,000 miles on factory installed Continental Sport Contac2's...no discernable noise
