The UK MB site now has some details on the new CLS500. Strangely, under engines, it still shows the old 500 and 55. You have to click the "Compare models" where you will see the new 500 (388 bhp) and the CLS 63.

I guess this confirms that in the UK we don't get a 550?

Hopefully my CLS500 arrives in 10 days. It's been a long wait.

In HK we get the 500 also not the 550. Same 388hp engine though.

The thing why the 500s are called 550 in North America is that Americans are used to big engines and prefer to be convinced by large displacement and ****loads of power, while Europeans care about a low fuel consumption hence the number on the bootlid is smaller. But that doesn't disturb me because I'd debadge my car anyway

Here in Spain and almost whole EURO no CLS 550 seen on my life...

Only CLS 320 CDI, CLS 350 and CLS 55 or 63 AMG :-)
