How Can I.....
.....be able to play DVDs in my 550?
My cousin had a CL500 and I remember it would play DVDs only when the car was off. Is the CLS 550 able to do this?
If so....how can I play DVDs while I'm driving?

yes, you can play DVD's. You need to get a Euro head unit, then change the code to alow it to play while in motion. You can also send your head unit out to Nav-tv, and they can modify it to have video line in, so that you can use another DVD source to play your DVD's
I have the Nav-tv mod with a DVD changer in my trunk, and it works great.

Thanks man, I've worked hard to get it that way. I heard allot of great reviews about Nav-tv, so I was very confident. First mod that i would recommend to any Mercedes owner, very useful.

yep, the nav still works while you watch the external source. I had a switched connected to the power source of the nav-tv module, so if i need to see the factory screen I just hit the switch and it returns to the factory mode. when i watch tv, i can still hear the navigation system giving me verbal directions etc. It also lowers the volume just like it would, so nothing changes, exept what you can see on the screen.
I paid $1000 total, but that was Jan 2006, I think it might be a little cheaper now.
most car stereo installation shops have accounts with them, but if you call them, the will give you info on a shop in your area. I got the unit back in 3 days, my shop took it out, and sent it off for me.
I took this option because i wanted to hook up TV's in my headrest's, if you get the euro head unit you will not have a line out to go to other TV's.
