Gear change paddles on CLS 500 any use?
Are the gear change paddles on the CLS 500 any use? I know it's a really cheap option, but am I likely to miss them if I don't get them? My present car is a BMW with SMG, so I am used to the paddles, but in the Merc they seem pretty small and may be irrelevant.
The reason I ask is that the dealer had offered me the possibility of getting my car sooner, provided that I don't take the paddle option.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Congratulations on your upcoming purchase.
I read a thread showing someone putting the paddles on their car themselves. It looked somewhat involved but doable.
Personally I think the car is a bit heavy and the throttle response somewhat sluggish to really benifit from paddle shifting.

Do they mount to the steering wheel or the column?
If they are on the wheel they would be going around and around.
I'm not convinced I would use them. I guess if you find yourself using the tiptronic on the console, you would benifit from the paddles.
I've used the rear sun screen more often then I've used the tiptronic.
The least used button is either the rear headrest release (used once) or the windshield wash button (never used).
