Question HELP - 2006 CLS 500 - Phone Quality SUCKS!

Can anyone please tell me what I need to tell my MB service provider (what he needs to order and replace in my car) to fix the horrible echo, under-water-like sounds my callers are hearing? It is a joke that every single time I go in there they claim it is fine, however, while using their loaner MB, my callers say they hear me crystal clear. PLEASE HELP!

As of MY07, MB changed the microphone configuration in 211 & 219 to resolve poor phone quality. Previous to MY07 the inside rearview mirror had a four-microphone configuration at the bottom, from MY07 to date vehicles are equipped with the new two-microphone configuration at the top of the mirror.

Therefore, one possible resolve may be to request the dealer replace your inside rearview mirror with part #A2118104717 inclusive of adaptation through STAR under warranty.

Sounds Good, but....?

if the consoles are compatible that may work, however, it sounds like people with other MB models have needed to replace their Voice Command Module (which I have as well) in order to get the system to work right. Are these two parts dependent on one another or am I just ? THANKS!

If I understand you correctly, you have had the vehicle in several times for this problem so I assume they checked the obvious; VCM, software updates, etc. You go on to say that with loaner vehicles (i.e.: MY07 or later) everything is fine. Therefore, I would suggest that you have the SA or shop foreman ride along and experience the problem first hand then request they, at the very least, swap out the mirror to compare performance.

Thanks! Will do. They have updated software twice and though I am not sure about the VCM, they probably checked that too. I'll post results after getting the mirror replaced (hopefully with an '07 or above). Thanks again!
