Just picked up an 06 Orient Blue CLS500

Hey guys I just purchased an 06 Orient Blue CLS500 with 12k miles on it from the States for 48k Canadian to my door with all the conversions and duty. Do you think I got a good deal on it? I got it from a friend who owns a few dealerships and he got it directly from Mercedes Benz USA's Auction in Vegas. It had only spent a half hour in a Mercedes shop as shown by the Mercedes car report, it was rated a 4.75/5 in condition by Mercedes. It was a Nevada vehicle.

It's a good deal so far but have you had it certifed for registration in Canada yet?

I was going to bring one over but MB Canada will require you to spend between $5K to $8K on changing over the bumper and other equipment to bring it to Canadian safety standards. Most of it is a lot of BS that they require you to do just to discourage us from bringing vehicles over.

It was actually ceritifed by mercedes canada they did all the conversions and has the warranty transfered over. The actual purchase price worked out to 41k with all duty and conversion charges. I was quite lucky to have a friend who owns a few dealerships to be able to get me such a good deal on a certified pre owned.

So MB Canada charged you $7K to get it fully converted? Man, not sure how they can get away with that. Still, you got a really good deal then since the certified MB '06's are going for just over $60K before taxes.

If I had gotten that deal I would have bought from the US as well.
