What is the max wheel width width?

Regarding the CLS 55 AMG: Do anyone have any knowledge on how wide we can go on a 20 inch wheel without making any fender well modifications? I would like to recreate the cool factor of the CLS in the attached photos.

i did 20x9 fronts and 20x11 rears but i bet you could do a 1/2" more on the front and rear and just stretch the tire on.

you can go to 11.5 in the rear but u will have to roll your fenders and it might still rub just slightly. i know there are a few guys running around with 11.5

I've got 11's in the rear on mine and they fit flush. I doubt you could go any bigger. It's not a Lambo.

I have 9 and 11 on my 55. I am pretty sure with the right offsets, and some minor mods, you can do a 9.5 and 11.5 with stretched tires.

Why push it though? Is it really worth possibly messing your car or rims up for an extra .5"? I don't think so. There is nothing really to gain here.

- Someone out there may want that super flush look with a stretched tire.

- Or run a 11.5 rear wheel with a 315-25-20 Toyo Proxes T1R rear tire. I think if we could run a 315-25-20 rear tire, that car would look crazy.

I guess but I don't see the lure to an extra half inch.

Well I for 1 love the super streched tire look, it is very popular in european tuners (mae design, mec design and inden design) not so popular here in the states. Too bad, even japenese tuners going for the super wide rims w/ strectched tires. More power to him or who ever tries it. Here are some samples with moderate strech. .02

That E46 M3 looks sick! I think that stretched tire look on super wide rims is catching on over here, just not on this forum.

I love this type of fitment...I tried to do it myself as well.

Inden has some sick cars ... believe it or not this CLS has 19's. 19x10 255/30/19 and 19x11 305/25/19. The wheels look big because the entire wheel is chrome and gives it the illusion that it has a full face.

That CLS looks sick because he is running lower than standard offsets. My 20x11's with a 305 dont even stick out anywhere close to how that one does.
